Where to Camp at Grand Teton National Park

The Grand Teton National Park spans an incredible 310,000 acres, or 485 square miles, and includes eight drive-up campgrounds. They are as follows:

  • Gros Vetre Campground: This is among the largest of the park's campgrounds and among the most easily accessible with its location close to Jackson, WY. Gros Vetre has a total of 279 campsites, including 39 with full electric hookups and 4 designated as group sites with a 10-person minimum for booking.
  • Jenny Lake Campground: This is a waterfront campground that lies at the edge of an open forest and some of the park's best hiking trails. Jenny Lake Campgrounds has 51 tent-only campsites that you can drive-up to, but no trailers or campers are allowed.
  • Signal Mountain Campground: There is only one RV campsite available at this Grand Teton National Park campground, with 80 other campsites for which 25 feature electric hook-ups and 4 are set as tent-only.
  • Colter Bay Campground. Coulter Bay Campground features 324 campsites, of which there are 10 large group sides and 13 with full electric hookups. The big draw of this camp ground is its proximity to the Colter Bay Village, which features a visitor center, marina, restaurants, stores, and more. In other words, you can get all your necessities without driving outside the park.
  • Colter Bay RV Park: This is an RV-only camp ground that has 112 full hook-up sites. It's also located near Colter Bay Village.
  • Colter Bay Tent Village: Also a short walk from Coulter Bay Village, this is a unique tent-only camp ground, but not one where you can set up your own tent. Here, you'll find 66 tent cabins that are available for rent.
  • Lizard Creek Campground: Located just 11 miles south of Yellowstone, this campground features 60 campsites without electricity. This is a very basic campground with no showers or payphones and only partially accessible restrooms at this time.
  • Headwaters Campground: This developed campground features 97 RV sites and 34 tent-only campsites, none of which feature electric hook-ups.

Choosing a Grand Teton National Park Campsite

As you can see, camping at Grand Teton National Park comes with a lot of options! Which of these campgrounds is right for you will depend foremost on availability! All of these campsites must be reserved in advance and spots do go quickly, especially for Colter Bay Tent Village, and some are only available for select seasons. Make sure to check your availability first and then consider which amenities (or lack thereof) and locations are most important to you.
